Human Library at The Mint House, Bonn Square, Oxford

We've all heard the saying to 'Never Judge a Book by its Cover', and our Human Library event is all about creating understanding through dialogue with a 'human book'. A human book is a person you get to talk to for 10 minutes about what it's like to be them.  Human Books you can read are :-

  • SYRIAN REFUGEES

  • STORIES FROM A PRISON CELL

  • BRAIN INJURY

  • GAY MINISTER

  • IS EPILEPSY THE END?

  • MY MOTORBIKE & GOD

  • TRANSGENDER CHRISTIAN

  • 23 YEARS OF PALESTINIANHOOD

The human library challenges prejudice and discrimination through dialogue. It uses the language and mechanism of a library to facilitate respectful conversations that can positively change people's attitudes and behaviours towards members of our communities who are at risk of exclusion and marginalisation.
